San Cristóbal de La Laguna is increasing the frequency of bus line 224 this summer to improve coastal access and reduce traffic congestion.

San Cristóbal de La Laguna is updating its public transport for the summer to better handle the increased number of people heading to the coast. The local council, working with the transport company Titsa, is improving bus line 224, which connects key areas to the beaches of La Barranquera and Jóver.

During the busiest summer months, four extra trips will be added to the daily schedule. To ensure these additional runs do not affect regular service, the City Council is providing an extra bus and the necessary drivers.

Domingo Galván, head of the Mobility Department, explained that this plan aims to encourage people to leave their cars at home when visiting the coast. Passengers can also use the Tejina church stop to transfer to lines 050 and 105, making it easier to reach Bajamar and Punta del Hidalgo. Meanwhile, bus line 217 will continue to run on its normal summer schedule to maintain local connections.

These changes are part of a wider effort to make travel more sustainable. By reducing traffic on coastal roads and making it easier to reach the beach by bus, the council and Titsa hope to provide a more efficient alternative to the heavy traffic typically seen during the summer.
