La Laguna Begins Construction of New 300-Space Public Parking Lot in Finca España

La Laguna City Council has begun preparing a plot of land next to Clorinda Salazar Primary School in Finca España to create a new public parking area. This project aims to ease the shortage of parking in the busy residential and commercial neighborhood near Avenida de Las Palmeras.

While the final design is still being confirmed, the Department of Public Works estimates the lot will hold between 200 and 300 vehicles. Crews are currently relocating underground water pipes, a necessary step before they can clear, level, and pave the site.

The design also includes features to improve traffic flow around the school. A dedicated "Kiss and Ride" zone will be created to allow parents to drop off and pick up children quickly, helping to reduce congestion on nearby streets. The site will also feature separate access points for emergency, maintenance, and public service vehicles.

Mayor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez noted that the city is using the land temporarily, ensuring it remains available for future educational needs if required. This project follows similar initiatives by the City Council near the local health center and Roberto Torres del Castillo Park.

Although work is underway, the city has not yet announced a completion date or the total budget for the project. This development follows recent summer improvements to the Clorinda Salazar school facilities, reflecting the council's ongoing commitment to upgrading school environments across the municipality.
