La Laguna Announces 38 Nativity Scenes for 2025 Trail
La Laguna will host its annual nativity scene trail featuring 38 displays starting December 9th, with festivities kicking off November 28th with a proclamation by official chronicler Eliseo Izquierdo and a poster inspired by vintage nativity figures.
La Laguna City Council's Department of Culture, along with the Nativity Scene Association, has announced the details for this year's nativity scene trail. In 2025, the trail will feature 38 nativity scenes and dioramas spread across the municipality.
Adrián del Castillo, the councilor in charge, highlighted that the trail continues to thrive thanks to the ongoing efforts of the Nativity Scene Association, which helps to strengthen this beloved Christmas tradition in La Laguna.
He mentioned that a guide to the trail will once again be available in local neighborhoods and towns, showcasing the various displays created by local artists.
Alfonso Castilla, president of the Nativity Scene Association, shared that the trail will open to the public on December 9th. This date also marks the start of visits by the jury for the annual competition that awards the best nativity scene creations.
Furthermore, Eliseo Izquierdo, the city's official chronicler, has been chosen as the herald for the festivities by the Board of Directors. His proclamation will be delivered on November 28th at 8:00 PM at the Leal Theater.
The official poster for this edition was designed by graphic artist Juan Cairós. Cairós explained that his inspiration came from a visit to a veteran nativity scene artist who showed him figures dating back to the 1950s and 1960s. These vintage pieces are central to the artwork, which also includes well-known landmarks of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, such as the tower of La Concepción, shown from the viewpoint of a nativity scene figure.
