La Laguna Advances €1.6 Million Modernization of Los Majuelos Industrial Estate
La Laguna has reached a key milestone in its €1.6 million modernization project for the Los Majuelos industrial estate, which focuses on improving traffic safety, sustainability, and infrastructure through 2027.
The modernization of the Los Majuelos industrial estate in La Laguna has reached a key stage following steady progress over the summer. The project, backed by a €1.6 million investment from the La Laguna City Council and the Island Council of Tenerife, aims to revitalize one of the island’s most important economic hubs through a plan running until early 2027.
This initiative addresses long-standing requests from local businesses and nearby residents, focusing on better mobility, sustainability, and energy efficiency. A major part of the plan is the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Avenida del Paso and Avenida Gandhi, which is designed to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety for both freight and private vehicles.
Beyond traffic improvements, the project is redesigning public spaces. On Calle Tijarafe, parking has been reorganized to increase capacity, and new infrastructure for electric vehicles has been installed. The area is also becoming greener, with new tree pits and landscaped zones that reflect modern sustainable urban planning.
The project also prioritizes environmental responsibility by using recycled materials for the new road surfaces, which helps increase durability while lowering the environmental impact of the construction. Additionally, public lighting is being completely upgraded across several key streets, including Calle Las Mercedes, Calle Tenderete, Calle Punta Llana, Calle Fuencaliente, Calle Garafía, Calle Puntagorda, and Calle Tijarafe.
This investment is vital for the competitiveness of La Laguna’s business sector, as outdated infrastructure can often hinder economic growth. By modernizing Los Majuelos, the local government aims to create a more functional, accessible, and sustainable environment that meets today’s standards.
