The La Guancha City Council has launched a 20,000-euro scholarship fund to support academic costs for students with specific educational needs for the 2025/2026 school year.

The La Guancha City Council has announced a new 20,000-euro fund to help cover academic costs for students with specific educational support needs for the 2025/2026 school year. Managed by the Department of Education under Elena Hernández, this initiative expands the town’s scholarship program. When combined with existing grants for Baccalaureate, vocational training, and university students, the council’s total annual investment in education now reaches 70,000 euros.

This program aims to ease the financial burden on families with children who have functional diversity. By providing direct support, the council hopes to ensure that all students have equal access to the specialized resources they need to succeed in their compulsory education.

To be eligible for the grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Have been registered in the municipality since before January 1, 2023.
  • Be between the ages of 2 and 20 (with exceptions for those under two).
  • Be enrolled in a public school on Tenerife for the 2025/2026 academic year.
  • Hold a disability certification of at least 25%.
  • Meet specific family income requirements.

The aid will be issued as a single payment, with the amount determined by the student's level of disability. Depending on the remaining budget, these amounts may be increased after the initial selection process.

Applications are open until July 22. Interested families can apply in person at the City Council’s General Registry or online through the council’s electronic office, where all necessary forms and documentation are available.
