La Guancha Hosts Second Annual Food and Wine Fair to Boost Rural Economy
The municipality of La Guancha in Tenerife is hosting its second annual food and wine fair this Friday to promote local products and boost the regional economy through gastronomy and live entertainment.
Efforts to boost rural areas by showcasing local products are gaining momentum in Tenerife this Friday. According to the La Guancha City Council, the municipality is hosting the second edition of its food and wine fair, an event aiming to become a staple of the local patron saint festivities.
Supported by the regional government’s "Dinamiza Rural" program, the fair highlights the region’s primary sector and local restaurants. Starting at 8:30 p.m., the Church Square will host five wineries—Atrevino, Canales del Palmar, Linaje del Pago, El Sitio, and Salomé—alongside a variety of local food vendors, including Ibericod, Restaurante Casa Mi Madre with Pastelería El Artesano, La Manobuena Pastelería y Catering, Carbrusa, and the Santo Domingo Festival Committee.
Beyond the food and drink, the event features a cultural program designed to bring the community together. Councilor for Festivities, Alejandro Hernández, noted that the event is part of a long-term municipal strategy. The evening’s entertainment includes performances by La Chalana, Ni 1 Pelo de Tonto, and DJ Cris Hdez, offering something for both residents and visitors to enjoy.
First launched in August 2025, this "Vinofest" reflects a growing trend across the Canary Islands: using gastronomic events to drive economic growth and social connection in smaller towns. The fair also serves as a lead-in to other local celebrations, such as the Day of Traditions taking place this Saturday at the Barranco de La Asomada, as the council continues its busy schedule of festive activities.
