La Chasnera Gas Station: 12-Year Spanish Christmas Lottery Winning Streak
The La Chasnera gas station in Tenerife has earned a reputation as a "fountain of luck" for the Spanish Christmas Lottery, consistently selling winning tickets for twelve consecutive years and drawing hopeful buyers from across Spain.
The Spanish Christmas Lottery is a cherished tradition, and over the years, many places that sell tickets have become famous for their winning streaks. One such place is the La Chasnera gas station, which has become a symbol of good fortune, giving out prizes for twelve years in a row.
Often called the 'fountain of luck,' La Chasnera has earned its reputation through its many wins. In 2013, it sold all the tickets for the second prize. In 2017, it handed out more than 3.2 million euros in winnings. Then, in 2018, it sold 26 'tenths' (shares) of the top prize, known as 'El Gordo.' Its lucky streak continued in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, making it one of the luckiest lottery sellers in the Canary Islands and across Spain.
In 2023 alone, it made history again by giving out a total of 2,884,000 euros. This included six shares of the top prize (El Gordo) for number 88.008, two shares of the second prize for 58.303, and 39 shares spread across four fifth prizes (numbers 88.979, 01.568, 86.007, and 57.421).
Beyond the main Christmas draw, La Chasnera has also given out several prizes in the El Niño Lottery Draw over the years.
In the weeks and months before the draw, it's common to see long queues at the gas station. Many people even travel between islands or make a special trip from mainland Spain just to buy a ticket. Those who get there early have the best chance to pick their preferred numbers, as many sell out weeks before the draw.
While mathematically all lottery numbers have the same chance of winning, for many players, La Chasnera represents excitement and a strong sense of hope.
You can find the La Chasnera gas station at kilometer 54 on the TF-1 road, in Arona, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It's open every day, Monday to Sunday, from 6 AM to midnight, without closing.
The gas station doesn't have a website where you can buy Christmas Lottery tickets online, so if you want to try your luck with one of their numbers, you'll need to visit in person. Who knows if their incredible run of luck will continue for another year?
