The "la Caixa" Foundation is strengthening its "Más Infancia" program with a €48 million budget to combat child poverty and social exclusion across Spain, having supported over 8,400 children in 2025.

The "la Caixa" Foundation is strengthening its support for children in need. Its "Más Infancia" (More Childhood) program, which gets some funding from the European Social Fund+, helped more than 8,400 children in 2025. This program tackles poverty and social exclusion across Spain by looking at all aspects of a child's life.

Child poverty is a big, ongoing problem in Spain. Organizations like "la Caixa" help by working alongside government efforts. They focus on helping children learn and grow, and supporting their families. The "Más Infancia" program will run until 2029 with a budget of over 48 million euros. It supports 68 projects run by different social groups, all aimed at helping children and teenagers (from birth to 18 years old) who live in difficult situations.

For example, in the Canary Islands, an organization called "Te Acompañamos contra la pobreza infantil" (We Accompany You Against Child Poverty) works in poor areas of Telde, Gran Canaria. This group was chosen through a special application process. A good example of their work is Pablo Adrián Trujillo Medina. His primary school, CEIP Maestro Félix Santana, referred him to the program during the 2023/2024 school year. Pablo struggled with managing his emotions and dealing with frustration. He has since taken part in summer activities, received therapy, and, starting in the 2025/2026 school year, also gets extra help with his studies.

With the help of these professionals and his family's involvement, Pablo has greatly improved his social skills and emotional control. He's learning how to handle his daily challenges better. His mother, Guayarmina Medina, is very happy with the program. She said she couldn't afford these services herself and is grateful for all the different kinds of support her son is getting.

"la Caixa" Foundation's social work isn't just about numbers. It aims to create lasting support systems that help children escape difficult situations and give them the tools to reach their full potential. The Foundation also has other programs, like "Más Empleo" (More Employment) and "Más Empleo Joven" (More Youth Employment), which help vulnerable people and young adults aged 16 to 29 find jobs. Overall, the Foundation invests nearly 124 million euros, showing its strong commitment to strengthening society in Spain.
