Keroxen 2025 Day 5: Global Sounds Blend Ancient Traditions with Future Tech
Keroxen 2025's fifth day features a global lineup blending electronic, psychedelic rock, and experimental techno from Palestine, Peru, Japan, Uganda, and the USA, exploring themes of tradition, modernity, and the future.
This Saturday marks the fifth day of Keroxen 2025, featuring a lineup that truly captures the festival's spirit. Prepare for a musical and visual journey that explores borders, traditions, and what the future might hold. From the electronic sounds of Palestine to the psychedelic rock of Japan and the experimental techno of the USA, the Espacio Cultural El Tanque in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host acts that blend the ancient with the modern, the real with the digital, and the local with the global.
The evening kicks off at 7:00 PM with Maya Al Khaldi & Sarouna ft. Dina Mimi from Palestine. This project reimagines the future through the lens of the past, weaving together old verses and archival sounds with a modern, technological, and emotional touch. Their music is a fresh take on folklore, blending tradition with electronic beats and a contemporary feel to create something fluid and spiritual.
At 7:50 PM, Peru's Ale Hop and Argentina's Tatiana Heuman will present "Near and Remote Activation Practices (2021-2025)." This performance combines electronic music with sound sculptures made from clay, drawing inspiration from ancient South American techniques. Their work connects fundamental elements like earth, water, fire, and air with today's world and the Andean culture, offering a powerful and poetic sonic experience. The visuals will be handled by V.A.N.H, the alias of Luciana Maia, whose digital art and real-time animations will create a dark and captivating visual atmosphere.
From 8:45 PM, get ready for Minami Deutsch from Japan, a standout band in today's psychedelic rock scene. Their music blends the structured sound of krautrock with energetic riffs and atmospheric passages, echoing the greats of the genre. They'll be joined by visuals from Tenerife artist Gregorio Viera, a seasoned artist and designer known for his work in the underground VJ scene of the 90s. Viera's art, which includes video, performance, and drawing, focuses on analog, organic, and noisy aesthetics. He has previously collaborated with international artists like Us3 and Kid Loco, as well as local Canary Islands musicians.
At 10:00 PM, HHY & The Kampala Unit will take the stage. This project by producer Jonathan Uliel Saldanha (HHY) teams up with musicians from Uganda, creating a unique sound that mixes African funk, dub, and techno into a deep, cinematic, and ritualistic experience. More than just a fusion, HHY & The Kampala Unit aim to create a collective release that pushes the boundaries of contemporary African electronic music.
The festival will close at 11:00 PM with Container (USA), the project of artist Ren Schofield. He will be performing his new work, "Yacker." This performance is both minimal and intense, merging a hard rock energy with the precision of techno. It's a saturated, physical, and vibrant show designed to move the body and embrace chaos.
