Jesús Rodríguez Falcón Exhibition Blends Mathematics and Art at University of La Laguna
The University of La Laguna is hosting a solo exhibition by mathematician and artist Jesús Rodríguez Falcón as part of the eighth annual M/A/L Festival, running through May 4.
The intersection of science and art takes center stage in Tenerife this week. As part of the eighth annual M/A/L Festival, the University of La Laguna’s Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication is hosting a solo exhibition featuring the work of Jesús Rodríguez Falcón.
Rodríguez Falcón, who teaches mathematics and chess, is known for blending spatial logic with a unique aesthetic style. The exhibition is now open to the public and will run until May 4. Visitors can view the collection for free, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. While the gallery is already open, an official opening ceremony will be held this Thursday at 11:00 a.m.
Throughout his career, Rodríguez Falcón has been recognized for his ability to combine technical analysis with visual storytelling. His notable achievements include winning the "Descubre Anaga" contest for his piece Embrujo, and receiving honors from the Galician Association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago for his work Donde la niebla guarda los pasos olvidados, which draws inspiration from his personal experiences on the pilgrimage route.
This exhibition highlights the value of bringing culture into university spaces, offering both students and the public a chance to explore creative work that bridges different disciplines. By showcasing Rodríguez Falcón’s art, the M/A/L Festival continues its mission to unite music, literature, and visual arts, proving that mathematical precision can serve as a powerful foundation for artistic expression.
