In the Canary Islands, a court upheld an 11-year sentence for a man who blew up the house of a drug dealer's ex-girlfriend due to drug-related debts.

In the Canary Islands, a court upheld the sentence of a man who blew up the house of a drug dealer's ex-girlfriend. The incident occurred in 2019 in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The perpetrator received 11 years in prison.

The court ruled that the man, along with an accomplice who is in hiding, were guilty of illegal possession of explosives and making threats. In addition to imprisonment, he must pay the insurance company 4,192 euros for the repair of the house.

The investigation established that the explosion was related to a drug dealer's debt. The perpetrator even wrote "pay" on the wall of the house.

The court emphasized that the man acted out of revenge, trying to recover a debt related to drugs.

As a result of the explosion, the house was damaged, and the woman sustained minor injuries. The court upheld the previous sentence: 9 years for explosives and 2 years for threats. The amount of compensation to the insurance company was also confirmed.

The court noted the high-quality police investigation, which helped solve the case thanks to telephone conversations and testimonies.

It was also confirmed that the debt they were trying to recover was related to drug trafficking. The court rejected the defense's attempts to present the case as an ordinary financial dispute.
