Jóver Promenade Wall Repairs Underway After Government Approval
Work has begun on repairing Jóver's promenade wall, a project expected to take two weeks and restore safety for residents after approval from the Canary Islands Government.
Work has started on repairing the wall along the promenade in Jóver. The La Laguna City Council is carrying out the reconstruction after getting permission from the Canary Islands Government's Directorate General of Coasts and Maritime Space Management.
These repairs are important to make the area safe and stop the sea from causing further damage. The wall has been weakened over time by tides and rough seas.
The project involves fixing the promenade's pavement and rebuilding the stone wall that had fallen down. This will allow the people of Jóver to use the area safely again. Ángel Chinea, the councillor in charge, expects the work to be finished in about two weeks, as long as bad weather doesn't cause delays.
Chinea mentioned that this project came about after discussions with the Canary Islands Government. He thanked them for quickly approving the work as an emergency measure, allowing the local council to use its own resources.
He also noted that this has been a long-standing request from the residents of Jóver, who wanted to enjoy their coastline with better safety against storms. Chinea also praised the efforts of former councillor Cristina Ledesma, who was instrumental in getting the project started and in liaising with local fishermen and residents.
