Italian Fugitive Arrested in Tenerife Over Aggravated Kidnapping Charges
An Italian fugitive accused of aggravated kidnapping in Naples, reportedly linked to the Amato-Pagano clan, has been arrested in Tenerife.
An Italian man, living as a fugitive in Tenerife, was arrested last Wednesday. He is accused of aggravated kidnapping in the Naples area.
National Police officers, part of the Fugitive Search Group in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, made the arrest. They had received a European arrest warrant for Gennaro C., who is reportedly linked to the Amato-Pagano clan.
Gennaro C. is believed to have fled Italy in late September, shortly after Italian authorities ordered the capture of nine other members of his gang. This group operates in the Scampia and Secondigliano neighborhoods and is connected to the Neapolitan Camorra.
Investigators believe Gennaro C. was involved in a scheme by his group to take over a family's property in Scampia. Italian media reports suggest that after intimidating the family, several individuals allegedly kidnapped or unlawfully detained the homeowner to force him to give up the property's keys.
Investigators reportedly tracked someone close to Gennaro C., which led them to the fugitive. Tenerife's National Police then identified and arrested him.
