Spanish police in Tenerife arrested a woman wanted by Italian authorities for serious crimes, including aggravated robbery and assault, who had already been sentenced to over four years in prison.

Spanish police on the island of Tenerife have arrested a woman who was wanted by Italian authorities. She was sought for serious crimes including aggravated robbery, assault, and making threats, and had already been sentenced in Italy to four years, three months, and 27 days in prison.

Police received the arrest warrant on January 12, 2026, and immediately began an investigation to find her. They gathered information about several possible places she might be living on the island, as well as vehicles she might be using.

During their search, officers learned that the woman had recently been arrested twice in Tenerife. One of these arrests was for drug trafficking and being part of an illegal group, which confirmed she was indeed on the island.

The fugitive was eventually found in El Médano, a town in Granadilla de Abona. Police then set up an operation and spotted a truck where they believed she might be living. After confirming her identity, officers arrested her immediately, taking all necessary safety precautions.

The arrested woman was handed over to the judicial authorities. They ordered her to be held in provisional custody while the process to extradite her to Italy is completed.

Police emphasize that public cooperation is vital in finding fugitives, who often move between different areas. The National Police website, policia.es, lists the most wanted fugitives under the "Collaborate > Wanted" section.
