Isla Calavera Zombie Walk Returns to La Laguna This Sunday
The Isla Calavera Zombie Walk takes place this Sunday in La Laguna as a rescheduled lead-up to the Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival, which runs from November 6th to 15th.
Film culture in the Canary Islands hits a new milestone this Sunday with the Isla Calavera Zombie Walk in La Laguna. Organizers of the Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival originally planned the event for the eve of All Saints' Day, but it was postponed by the local council as a mark of respect following the recent train accident in Urda, Toledo.
This event serves as a lead-up to the main festival, which runs from November 6th to 15th. More than just a fun gathering, it acts as a boost for the local culture and tourism sectors. Supported by the Aguere City Council’s Department of Culture, the festivities begin at 5:00 PM in the Plaza del Adelantado. Attendees can enjoy professional makeup services and food before the walk begins at 8:00 PM. The route will take participants through the streets of Obispo Rey Redondo and Herradores, ending at the Plaza de la Concepción.
This year, performer Adrián Rosales will serve as the master of ceremonies, working with artist Daniel Baute to host the evening. The event will wrap up with a costume contest and a performance by DJ Nagoba, who will mix electronic music with classic fantasy film soundtracks.
In addition to the walk, the festival continues its film programming with a special preview of Godzilla Minus One on Tuesday, November 3rd, at Multicines Tenerife. This screening brings the latest work from director Takashi Yamazaki to the islands, showcasing the cutting-edge visual effects that have made his take on the kaiju universe a global success.
The festival is a collaborative effort between the Charlas de Cine Cultural Association, the film website Tumbaabierta.com, and Multicines Tenerife. It is supported by the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo de Tenerife, and the Science and Technology Park, all working together to promote La Laguna’s historical heritage through the lens of the entertainment industry.
