Isla Calavera Film Festival Launches 10th Anniversary Countdown with New Promotional Video
The tenth annual Isla Calavera Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival has launched its promotional campaign ahead of the November event in Tenerife, which will feature industry icons like Christopher Lambert and Tom Berenger.
The tenth annual Isla Calavera Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival has officially begun its countdown with the release of a new promotional video, premiered by Diario de Avisos. This launch sets the stage for the festival, which will take place in Tenerife from November 6 to 15, and highlights the event’s growing reputation by featuring prominent figures from the film industry.
The promotional video, which will be screened this Thursday at Multicines Tenerife during a special showing of Labyrinth, stars actor Eduardo Noriega. Noriega, who was honored by the festival in 2023, is joined by the voice of legendary Spanish dubbing artist Camilo García. Noriega’s involvement is a deliberate nod to his career in iconic fantasy and suspense films like Tesis and Open Your Eyes, reflecting the festival’s goal of connecting classic genre cinema with new generations of fans.
This year’s programming centers on two major milestones in film history: the 40th anniversary of David Cronenberg’s The Fly and the 30th anniversary of Alejandro Amenábar’s Tesis. By focusing on these titles, the organizers—the Charlas de Cine Cultural Association, Multicines Tenerife, and Tumbaabierta.com—aim to celebrate body horror and the thriller as essential parts of cinematic culture.
The guest list for this tenth anniversary highlights the festival’s international appeal. Alongside honorary award recipients Christopher Lambert and Tom Berenger, the event will welcome independent film icon Lloyd Kaufman of Troma Entertainment and Spanish horror legend Lone Fleming.
With support from the La Laguna City Council, the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo of Tenerife, and various cultural organizations, the festival is set to continue its growth. Organizers will announce further details regarding the schedule and additional guests in the coming days. As it enters its tenth year, Isla Calavera remains a key destination for fans of fantastic cinema, successfully blending a love for classics with a dedication to showcasing the creators behind them.
