The Canary Islands will host a series of film screenings in October called "Savage Environment" as part of the Isla Calavera Fantastic Film Festival, which will explore the connection between humans and nature through films such as "Snowpiercer," "The Road," "Children of Men," and "Life of Pi."

The "Ciudad de La Laguna Isla Calavera" fantastic film festival, held in the Canary Islands, will take place for the ninth time from November 7 to 16. In 2025, the organizers plan to pay even more attention to education and film promotion. To this end, they will cooperate with the film audience of the University of La Laguna.

But even before the festival, in October, Isla Calavera invites you to the "Beastly Environment" series of screenings. This is an opportunity to reflect on how people are connected to nature through watching cool movies.

The screenings will take place every Wednesday in October at 19:00 at Multicines Tenerife – this is where the film audience usually gathers and where the festival itself takes place. The films will be shown in their original language with subtitles. It will all start with the South Korean film "Snowpiercer" (2013) directed by Bong Joon-ho on October 1. This is a story about the future after an ecological catastrophe, where the survivors travel on a train that never stops. Class inequality and the struggle for power reign in this train, leading to an uprising.

On October 8, the film "The Road" (2009) directed by John Hillcoat will be shown. This is an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's novel about a father and son who travel through a devastated world in search of hope. They face dangers, but try to maintain their humanity in this hostile environment.

On October 15, "Children of Men" (2006) directed by Alfonso Cuarón will be on the screen. The action takes place in 2027, when humanity has lost the ability to have children, and the world has plunged into chaos. The main character, former activist Theo, must protect a young woman who may hold the key to the future of humanity. The film makes you think about hope in the most difficult circumstances.

The "Beastly Environment" series will end with the film "Life of Pi" (2012) directed by Ang Lee on October 29. This is an incredible story about a boy named Pi who survived a shipwreck in the Pacific Ocean. He finds himself in a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger. The film tells about faith, survival and the connection between man and nature, all with incredible visual effects.
