Isla Calavera Festival Announces 10th Anniversary Lineup at Sitges

The Canary Islands are fast becoming a key hub for the international film industry, and the Isla Calavera Festival is a prime example of this growth. As announced at the Sitges Film Festival, the La Laguna-based event is preparing for its tenth anniversary. This milestone will be officially presented this Saturday at 10:30 a.m. as the festival looks to cement its reputation within the specialized film circuit.

Since its launch in 2017, the festival has mirrored the professional growth of the audiovisual sector in the archipelago. By joining the Méliès International Festivals Federation, the event has gained global recognition and helped local filmmakers connect with international talent. A round table discussion at Sitges will explore how this cultural management has successfully turned the region into a magnet for film production.

Festival directors Daniel Fumero, Ramón González Trujillo, and Vanesa Bocanegra will use the event to announce the first titles in their Official Selection, which will include feature films, shorts, and documentaries. There is significant anticipation, especially with confirmed guests like Christopher Lambert, Tom Berenger, Lone Fleming, and director Lloyd Kaufman—a lineup that highlights the festival’s success in bringing major fantasy genre icons to La Laguna.

Organized by the Charlas de Cine Cultural Association, Multicines Tenerife, and Tumbaabierta.com, the festival is supported by the La Laguna City Council, the Government of the Canary Islands, the Tenerife Island Council, and various film promotion agencies. Running from November 6 to 15, 2026, this tenth edition aims to celebrate a decade of history while continuing to build professional networks and business opportunities within the dynamic world of genre cinema.
