At the "Ciudad de La Laguna Isla Calavera" film festival, Sara Salamo will receive an award for Canarian talent, and Marian Salgado will receive an award for her contribution to horror films.

The "Isla Calavera" Fantastic Film Festival "City of La Laguna" will take place in the Canary Islands. This year, from November 7 to 16, 2025, in Tenerife, the festival will present two new awards.

The first is the S. S. Venture Award for Canarian Talent. It will be awarded to Sara Salamo, an actress, screenwriter, director, and producer from Tenerife.

The second is the Isla Calavera "Legend of Fantasy" Award. It will be presented to actress Marian Salgado, known for her roles in Spanish horror films.

Sara Salamo is a talented and versatile personality. She acts in films, television, and theater. Her works showcase Canarian culture around the world. Sara has worked with renowned directors such as Asghar Farhadi and Pedro Almodóvar. She also founded Montauk Canarias, a film production company in the Canary Islands. Her works include the horror short film "Yaya" and the documentary "In Silence." Sara actively supports Canarian culture and is an example for young artists.

Previously, the S. S. Venture Award has been received by famous filmmakers such as Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, Elio Quiroga, Carolina Bang, Jonay Bacallado, and Adrián Guerra.

Marian Salgado is a legend of Spanish horror cinema. She was born in Chile but has lived in Spain since childhood. Her most famous role is in the film "Possessed" (1975). This film will be screened at the Isla Calavera festival 50 years after its premiere. Marian has also starred in the films "Strange Love of Vampires" (1976) and "Who Can Kill a Child?" (1976). In addition, she voiced Regan in "The Exorcist" (1975). Her contribution to the film genre is invaluable.

Previously, the Isla Calavera festival has already presented an honorary award. This year it will be received by Randal Kleiser, director of the cult films "Grease" (1979) and "Flight of the Navigator" (1986).

The Isla Calavera festival has been held since 2017 and has become one of the most important fantastic film festivals in Spain. It is a member of the Méliès International Festivals Federation (MIFF), which brings together 32 festivals from 22 countries around the world.

Famous actors and directors such as Ron Perlman, Henry Thomas, Adrienne Barbeau, John Landis, Joe Dante, Lou Ferrigno, Sam J. Jones, Deborah Nadoolman, Sarah Douglas, Rick Baker, Caroline Munro, David Naughton, Enzo G. Castellari, Mick Garris, Neil Marshall, Charlotte Kirk, Nicholas Rowe, Colin Arthur, Jack Taylor, Amber Heard, and Eduardo Noriega have participated in the festival. Spanish stars such as Belén Rueda, Álex de la Iglesia, Manuela Velasco, and others have also attended the festival.
