Rescuers in Tenerife spent the weekend extinguishing fires and rescuing children from cars.
Over the weekend, rescuers in Tenerife extinguished fires, freed children from cars, and responded to traffic accidents, collaborating with the police and medics.
This weekend, rescuers from San Miguel, Icod de los Vinos, and Guía de Isora were kept busy. They responded to various calls, from rescuing children from locked cars to extinguishing fires in hotels and cars. They were assisted by local and national police, as well as paramedics.
For example, on Sunday morning, around 10:35 AM, in San Isidro, police called firefighters from San Miguel because a child had accidentally locked themselves in a car. Rescuers quickly assessed the situation and, after ensuring it was safe, broke a window and pulled the child out. Fortunately, the child was unharmed.
And on Saturday evening, firefighters from Guía de Isora, along with volunteers, extinguished a burning car in Chío. The fire could have spread to a nearby palm tree. Police helped secure the scene.
On Friday afternoon, around 6:15 PM, rescuers from Icod de los Vinos responded to a traffic accident in Garachico. Since no one was injured, they simply disconnected the car's battery and removed the documents to secure the road. That same day, at 5:15 PM, firefighters from San Miguel de Abona extinguished a fire in a hotel room in Las Américas. However, when they arrived, it turned out that the hotel staff had already dealt with the fire. So the rescuers simply ventilated the room. Police and paramedics were also on the scene.
Earlier on Friday morning, around 8:40 AM, firefighters from Guía de Isora were called to an accident on the Piedra Hincada - Tejina road. There, too, no one was injured, so they disconnected the battery to prevent a fire. They were assisted by local police. And finally, on Friday evening, firefighters from San Miguel, along with volunteers from Adeje, extinguished a car that was burning in a vacant lot in Las Américas. National police were working at the scene.
