Insularia Films is set to release The Score of the Cosmos, a documentary directed by JuanMa V. Betancort that captures composer Suzanne Ciani transforming galactic rotation data into avant-garde music.

Insularia Films is launching a new project that bridges the gap between astrophysics and avant-garde music. Their upcoming feature film, The Score of the Cosmos, documents composer Suzanne Ciani’s residency at the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands (IAC), where she transformed data on the rotation of spiral galaxies into music.

The documentary explores the scientific theory that galactic disks move in a synchronized rhythm, much like an orchestra. Directed by JuanMa V. Betancort, the film moves away from traditional educational styles to offer a sensory experience that uses astronomical research as its foundation.

The film’s tour of the Canary Islands begins on April 10 in La Palma. It will then move to Tenerife for a one-week run at Multicines Tenerife starting April 16, followed by additional screenings at TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes on April 24, 25, and 26. This project is part of a growing movement to make complex scientific concepts more accessible to the public through interdisciplinary art.
