The Insularia-Islas del Mundo International Film Festival is touring the Canary Islands with a selection of award-winning films to promote cultural decentralization and accessibility across the archipelago.

Cultural decentralization is the focus of this year’s Insularia-Islas del Mundo International Film Festival. Following the main event in El Hierro, organizers have launched an ambitious plan to bring films about island life to audiences across the Canary Islands.

This touring strategy aims to make the festival more accessible. It features films from the October 11 closing gala, where Debora Maité’s You Land won the top prize, followed by Their Accounts by Hannah Hunters and a special mention for Dodo by Lorris Coulon. The program, which includes both new award-winners and classic festival titles, has already visited the Infanta Cristina Auditorium in La Gomera and Caleta de Sebo beach in La Graciosa.

The tour continues over the coming days:

  • October 21: TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes.
  • October 21 (8:00 p.m.): A special screening of the Bafta Shorts collection at TEA Tenerife.
  • October 23–24: Museo del Timple in Teguise, Lanzarote.
  • October 26: Teatro Chico in Santa Cruz de La Palma.
  • October 28–29: Casa del Zapatero in Betancuria, Fuerteventura.

By moving the festival to various museums, theaters, and outdoor spaces, organizers are highlighting the importance of local venues as cultural hubs. This approach ensures that island-themed cinema is not limited to one location, but instead reaches communities throughout the entire region.
