Influencer Spotlights Tenerife's Casa Mi Madre for Fresh Seaside Fish

Tenerife's Casa Mi Madre, an oceanfront family restaurant in San Juan de la Rambla, is celebrated for its fresh, expertly fried fish and traditional "papas arrugadas," recently highlighted by a viral food influencer.

On Tenerife's north coast, you'll find a restaurant called Casa Mi Madre – 'My Mother's House' – that truly tastes of the sea. Here, the fish is expertly fried, and the "papas arrugadas" (wrinkled potatoes) are deliciously soft. This isn't just any place; it's a family restaurant nestled right by the ocean in San Juan de la Rambla, where every lunch creates a lasting memory.

Food influencer @alegloton raved about it in a viral video, saying: "If you're in the north of the island and looking for fresh fish right by the sea, I'm going to show you a place you'll love." And he's right; from the terrace, you can hear the waves breaking. Inside, the food is cooked with the same care and love you'd put into cooking for your own family.

As the influencer explains, "It's literally his mother's house," and that family feel is evident in everything: the service, the decor, and the menu. Fresh fish arrives every morning, and the restaurant serves it simply and carefully, just like a Sunday family lunch.

He describes ordering their homemade almogrote with toasted bread, calling it "always a highlight" as he shows the cured goat cheese with mojo. Next came homemade chicken croquettes – not fish, to the influencer's surprise – along with a perfectly crispy, golden fried moray eel.

But the star dish is definitely the sama fish with "papas arrugadas," served open, juicy, and almost boneless. "The fish just fell apart. What more could you ask for?" he remarks in his video, with satisfied laughter and close-ups showing the white flesh easily flaking apart. "We left it completely deboned, as it should be."

Lunch isn't complete without something sweet, and Casa Mi Madre's desserts also have a homemade touch. "We ordered one coffee dessert and another one I decided to try on a whim," he admits. "I hadn't ordered it in ages. And what a great choice!"

You can find Casa Mi Madre at Calle Cantito 16 in San Juan de la Rambla. It's open from Thursday to Monday, between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM. The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and reservations are essential. You can book by calling 647 944 009.
