Inefable Productions Begins Filming Psychological Thriller 'La Cathédrale' in Canary Islands
Inefable Productions has commenced filming its first English-language psychological thriller, La Cathédrale, in the Canary Islands as part of a broader strategy to expand the Spanish film industry's global reach.
The Spanish film industry is reaching for a global audience with the start of La Cathédrale, a psychological thriller and the first English-language project from Inefable Productions, a division of the ISII Group. Filming began this week in Gran Canaria at the University of Las Palmas’ School of Architecture, marking the start of a four-week shoot that will move between Gran Canaria and Tenerife.
Directed by Tenerife native Eduardo Cubillo, the film follows Thomas, a violinist whose life is shattered by the death of his daughter. The story explores the intersection of personal grief and restorative justice—a process the director describes as deeply transformative—while building suspense around a mysterious musical instrument found among the daughter's belongings.
The film features an international cast designed to appeal to a worldwide audience. It stars Taz Skylar (One Piece), Marta Nieto (known for her award-winning work at the Venice Film Festival), and Will Keen, alongside Ronald Guttman and Peter Vives.
This project is a key part of the ISII Group’s strategy to expand its footprint in the global film market. The company, which also operates through the distributor Deep Com Roots, has a busy slate ahead, including upcoming releases like Tal vez, Días de agosto, and Trinidad, which stars Paz Vega and Karla Sofía Gascón. With other projects in development—such as Martín Cuervo’s Desde arriba and Cristian Beteta’s Mi zona—the production company is clearly focused on diversifying its catalog and strengthening its position in the commercial film industry.
