The inaugural Golden Rings Awards, launched by the Circle of Spanish Series Professionals, received 853 entries across 23 categories, highlighting the robust and international reach of Spain's TV and film industry ahead of its June 20 ceremony in Tenerife.
The new Golden Rings Awards are a clear sign of how strong Spain's TV and film industry is. This first-ever event, created by the Circle of Spanish Series Professionals, has received an impressive 853 entries across 23 categories. Such high participation for a brand-new awards show highlights the lively nature of Spanish television, its ability to create lots of content, and its increasing presence on the world stage.
In total, 93 series are competing for the awards. These include 74 Spanish productions, 8 from Latin America, and 11 from other international locations. A wide range of platforms and channels are represented, from major streaming services like Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Prime Video, and Apple TV+, to Spanish broadcasters such as Movistar Plus+, Atresmedia, RTVE, Mediaset, and Filmin. Other channels like SkyShowtime, AMC+, and BBC are also in the running.
The awards ceremony will be held on June 20 at the Tenerife Exhibition Center. It has strong support from the regional Government, the island Council, and the capital's City Council. This three-way backing shows how much the film and TV industry's cultural and economic impact is valued, and highlights the desire to make the Canary Islands a key player in the sector.
Right from the start, these awards were designed to be international. They include special categories for the best Latin American series and the best international series. This open approach has led to entries from a dozen countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Chile, Mexico, Latvia, Iceland, Venezuela, Colombia, Denmark, Sweden, and Argentina. This broad participation shows that the awards reach far beyond Spain and reflects how global TV series consumption has become.
There will also be an award for the best film commission or film office of the year, recognizing organizations that help with filming in Spain. For this first award, Film Madrid Region, Rías Baixas Film Commission, Sevilla Film Office, Alcalá Film Office, and Andalucía Film Commission are all in the running. This highlights the crucial role these offices play in developing the industry.
The selection process for the awards happens in several stages. Members of the Circle of Spanish Series Professionals are the ones who vote. The first round of voting closes on April 24, and the three finalists in each category will be announced in early May. After that, a new voting period will begin to decide the winners. Professionals who want to join the jury and vote must register with the organization by March 27.
