Icod de los Vinos Unveils Tablas de San Andrés Festival Schedule, Expects 30,000 Attendees
Icod de los Vinos announces the poster and schedule for the Tablas de San Andrés festival, a unique tradition celebrating wine and local culture from November 28th to 30th, expecting over 30,000 attendees and featuring live broadcasts, media coverage, and the symbolic dragging of tables.
The Icod de los Vinos Town Council has announced the poster and schedule for the upcoming Tablas de San Andrés festival. This is a well-loved and unique tradition in the north of Tenerife. The festival will take place from November 28th to 30th, and organizers expect over 30,000 people to attend this celebration of tradition, wine, and local culture.
Mayor Javier Sierra, along with Tourism Councilor Gerardo Rizo and Festivals Councilor Cathaysa Concepción, revealed the main events and the comprehensive safety and promotional plans for this year's festival.
A key moment will be the official uncorking of the first bottle of wine from the new harvest on Thursday, November 28th, at 9:00 PM. This symbolic toast will be broadcast live across the Canary Islands on Televisión Canaria's program "Una hora menos," connecting all eight islands to Icod de los Vinos.
On Friday, November 29th, starting at 7:00 PM, the popular Fiesta de los Vinos will feature music, tapas, and wines from Tenerife. The festival will conclude on Saturday, November 30th, at 6:00 PM with the Batalla de Polkas, a lively end to the three days of festivities.
This year's Tablas de San Andrés will receive extensive media coverage. All local island television stations will broadcast special programs and live reports from various locations in the town.
Televisión Española in the Canary Islands will also be present, filming their programs "Cerca de Ti" and "TeleCanarias 1" live from the area around the Millennial Dragon Tree.
Radio Televisión Canaria is increasing its coverage, dedicating five hours of live programming from Icod de los Vinos. This includes their radio shows "La Alpispa" and "Roscas y Cotufas," as well as special news and magazine coverage during the festival.
The Town Council has launched a significant promotional campaign. The official image of the Tablas de San Andrés will be displayed on Tenerife Trams, billboards along the TF-5 highway, at Tenerife North Airport (on screens and in Binter Canarias' NT magazine), and at the airport's exit.
The "dragging of the tables," which gives the festival its name, will happen on November 28th, 29th, and 30th. Participants will drag tables along designated routes in the historic old town, including streets like El Plano, San Antonio, and Hércules. This tradition is rooted in the old woodworking and cooperage trades.
The mayor highlighted, "San Andrés is the heart of our City. Icod is once again opening its streets and wineries to everyone in the Canary Islands, so we can celebrate our heritage together."
