Icod de los Vinos has been named the winner of the second annual Dorada "Summer Town" contest after securing 37% of the public vote in a digital campaign celebrating local heritage.

Icod de los Vinos has been named the winner of the second annual Dorada "Summer Town" contest, according to Compañía Cervecera de Canarias (CCC). Following in the footsteps of last year’s winner, Garachico, the town secured the title after a digital voting campaign that encouraged thousands of residents to celebrate the heritage and identity of their local communities.

The contest, held across the brand’s social media channels, drew 12,981 votes. Initially, 16 municipalities from Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro competed, including towns like La Orotava, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Los Llanos de Aridane, and San Sebastián de La Gomera. After several rounds, the final four—La Orotava, Frontera, Puerto de la Cruz, and Icod de los Vinos—faced off, with Icod de los Vinos taking the top spot with 37% of the vote.

Roberto Martínez of CCC explained that the initiative aims to highlight the importance of public spaces and community life during the summer. Beyond the promotion, the contest underscores the brewing industry's role in the local economy, which supports nearly 14,000 jobs and prioritizes local suppliers.

To celebrate the win, the Icod de los Vinos City Council and CCC will host a public event on September 12th. The celebration will feature live music and cultural activities, strengthening the connection between the brand and the town. This digital contest has proven to be an effective way to boost local pride and engage directly with the community.
