Icod de los Vinos Hospital Resumes Full Surgical Operations After Technical Fault Resolved

The Hospital del Norte in Icod de los Vinos has resumed full operations after fixing a technical fault that affected the ventilation and temperature control in its surgical unit. According to Diario de Avisos, the issue was resolved this Tuesday, allowing the hospital’s two major ambulatory surgery rooms to reopen.

Management at the Hospital Universitario de Canarias, which oversees the facility, stated that no scheduled surgeries were cancelled due to the problem. However, staff members noted that this was only because the surgery schedule had not yet been finalized for the days the system was down. This is a significant detail, given that the facility handles nearly 2,000 operations each year.

This incident underscores how vital climate control is in a hospital setting. Strict temperature and air quality standards are required by law to maintain a sterile environment and ensure patient safety. If these systems fail, clinical protocols require operating rooms to close immediately to prevent the risk of infection.
