The Ministry of Culture, through its Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), has approved the second round of general funding for feature film projects in 2025. This funding totals 28.35 million euros. Among the recipients, four production companies from the Canary Islands will receive 2.98 million euros.
The overall budget for the 2025 funding call is 55 million euros, divided into two rounds. The first round, announced on October 15, awarded 26.6 million euros to 27 projects. In this second round, 29 out of 40 applying projects received funding, with 24 being fiction films and five animation. Notably, eleven of the funded projects are international co-productions, receiving 10.23 million euros.
Beyond the Canary Islands, other regions also received significant funding:
- 24 Catalan companies, working on 12 projects, will receive 8.5 million euros.
- 29 companies from Madrid, involved in 18 projects, will get 7.9 million euros.
- Four Valencian companies secured 1.2 million euros for four feature films.
- Three Galician production companies will receive 1.3 million euros for two projects.
- Nine companies from the Basque Country will get 4.7 million euros for five films.
In an effort to reduce the gender gap, 11 out of the 13 projects directed exclusively by women among the applicants received funding. This means that 37.93% of all funded projects are directed by women.
