Actor and dancer Ian Garside will present his production "David and Goliath," a dance-theatre piece exploring power dynamics, this Sunday at 6:00 PM in La Laguna's Teatro Leal, followed by a workshop.

Ian Garside, an actor and dancer, is presenting his show "David and Goliath" this Sunday at 6:00 PM. The performance will take place in the Chamber Hall of the Teatro Leal in La Laguna. This is Garside's own production, and it's part of the "Danza en Breve" program. This program was created by the City Council, through the Autonomous Body of Musical Activities of La Laguna (OAAM), to support artists working in dance.

Garside will be joined by Tomás Pozzi for the show. Together, they will perform a piece that combines dance and theatre, suitable for all ages. On stage, they will explore the conflict between the strong and the weak, looking at how we perceive vulnerability and questioning where our true strengths and weaknesses lie.

After the performance, the artists will lead a 30-minute workshop about power dynamics. They'll encourage the audience to think about what they consider an advantage or disadvantage in others.

Ian Garside has studied at two leading contemporary dance schools in Europe: Laban in London and Parts in Brussels. He has more than 10 years of experience as a performer and has worked with well-known contemporary dance and physical theatre companies like DV8 Physical Theatre and Punchdrunk.

He also enjoys teaching and offers classes and workshops to students worldwide. Garside began creating his own work in 2020. Since then, he has produced several pieces, including "Hasta el Infinito y Más Allá" (2021), "Sorites" (2022), "Almagre" (2022), "David & Goliat" (2023), "Azahar" (2024), and "No me lleves a misa" (2024).

Besides performing, creating, and teaching, Garside also supports cultural projects related to dance and live arts through Peso Producciones, an initiative run by his partner Cristina Pérez Sosa.
