The wheelchair basketball team ADEIN Tenerife and their medical partner Hospiten held a joint training session on May 6th to foster mutual understanding and promote the normalization of disability through sport.

Partnerships between businesses and disability sports organizations are vital for raising public awareness. A recent example of this took place on May 6th at the Sergio Rodríguez Pavilion, where the wheelchair basketball team from Santa Cruz ADEIN Tenerife Fundación CB Canarias met with staff from their official medical provider, Hospiten.

The event went beyond a simple meet-and-greet, offering the medical team a hands-on look at the sport. Player Alejandro Mendoza explained the tactical and logistical demands of wheelchair basketball, highlighting the specific equipment and techniques required to play. By participating in a joint training session, the staff gained a deeper understanding of the daily challenges these athletes face.

Ana Magali Rodríguez, the club’s president, believes these initiatives are essential for normalizing disability through shared experience. She emphasized that inclusive sports are not only a way to foster personal growth but also a powerful tool for promoting equal opportunities in society.

This event is part of a long-standing partnership between the two organizations. Through this agreement, Hospiten provides the team with essential medical support, including check-ups and diagnostic tests at their Rambla and Bellevue university hospitals. This collaboration ensures that the team has the professional medical care needed to compete in the Superliga.
