Hospital Parque Launches Specialized Sports Medicine Unit in Tenerife
Hospital Parque in Tenerife has launched a new multidisciplinary sports medicine unit that combines minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery with advanced regenerative therapies to provide comprehensive care for athletes.
Hospital Parque in Tenerife has launched a new sports medicine unit designed to provide a centralized hub for treating exercise-related injuries. Led by traumatologist María Trinidad Fernández Rovira, in collaboration with Javier Álvarez de la Cruz, the service is tailored to meet the needs of both professional athletes and casual sports enthusiasts.
The unit stands out for its multidisciplinary approach. Rather than focusing solely on surgery, the team emphasizes high-precision diagnosis and preventive care. By prioritizing functional recovery alongside medical intervention, the goal is to reduce the risk of future injuries and help patients return to their activities as quickly and safely as possible.
A key feature of the unit is its focus on arthroscopy. By using micro-instruments and high-resolution cameras, surgeons can perform procedures on the knee, shoulder, hip, and ankle with minimal tissue damage. This minimally invasive approach is also applied to prosthetic implants, which helps lower the physical impact of surgery and speeds up the rehabilitation process.
Furthermore, the center is incorporating advanced regenerative therapies, such as platelet-rich plasma and treatments derived from bone marrow or adipose tissue. By combining precision surgery with these cutting-edge biological therapies and structured physical rehabilitation, Hospital Parque aims to set a new standard for comprehensive sports injury care in the Canary Islands.
