A hiker was airlifted to a Tenerife hospital on Sunday after sustaining a moderate leg injury in a fall near Los Silos.

Emergency services were called to Los Silos in northern Tenerife this Sunday after a hiker was injured in a fall. The incident, which occurred in the Lomo Morín area, left the woman unable to continue her trek.

The alarm was raised shortly after 1:00 p.m. Due to the difficult terrain, the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) had to perform an aerial rescue to reach the hiker. After stabilizing her, the team airlifted her to Tenerife North Airport.

Once she landed, she was treated by the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC). She was diagnosed with a moderate leg injury and taken by ambulance to Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria Hospital for further care.

This rescue highlights the importance of careful planning when hiking in the Canary Islands. The region’s challenging trails and changing weather require good physical preparation and the right equipment. Emergency teams remain on high alert due to the frequency of accidents in rugged areas like Los Silos, and they urge hikers to exercise caution and always carry a reliable way to call for help.
