Helicopter Rescues Injured Tourist from Remote Tenerife Beach
A 60-year-old tourist with a moderate ankle injury was rescued by helicopter from the hard-to-reach Antequera beach in Tenerife and transported to a hospital.
Rescuing people from hard-to-reach spots, like Antequera beach in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, proved challenging on Monday. A helicopter was needed to evacuate a 60-year-old tourist who had fallen.
Reports indicate the incident required a joint effort from emergency teams, highlighting the logistical challenges of rescues in remote parts of the islands.
The Canary Islands' 1-1-2 emergency center launched the rescue operation at 1:18 PM, after receiving a call for medical help. The Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) sent a helicopter, which located the woman and took her to the main dock in Tenerife. Paramedics from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC) were waiting there to give her a first check-up.
The woman had a moderate ankle injury and was taken to Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria University Hospital for specialist treatment. Tenerife firefighters also helped with the rescue, supporting the other teams. The National Police dealt with the necessary paperwork for the incident.
