An 86-year-old hiker was airlifted to the hospital with a head injury after falling on a trail in Santiago del Teide.

An 86-year-old man was rescued by helicopter on Wednesday, November 19th, while hiking in Santiago del Teide.

The emergency services received a call before midday reporting that a man had fallen on a trail near the cemetery and needed medical help.

Firefighters and local police officers were the first to reach the man and helped the air rescue team.

Paramedics from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) gave him initial treatment. He was then taken to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands with a head injury.
