Haro Rioja Ends Libby's La Laguna Winning Streak 3-0
Tenerife Libby's La Laguna's Superliga Femenina winning streak was snapped by a 0-3 home loss to Haro Rioja Voley, though other Canarian teams enjoyed dominant 3-0 victories in Superliga 2.
Tenerife Libby's La Laguna faced a tough loss this Saturday, falling 0-3 to Haro Rioja Voley at Pablos Abril. This defeat ends their recent winning streak in the Superliga Femenina, which included impressive victories over league leaders Menorca and fourth-placed Cajasol. Losing to a team currently in seventh place could hurt their chances of reaching the playoffs for the title.
Played in front of a large crowd, the match was dominated by the Rioja team from the very first set. The visitors played exceptionally well, with Mariangel Vivas being a crucial player, scoring 21 points. They took the first set 25-20.
Libby's struggled early in the second set, calling an early timeout when they were down 1-5. Despite their efforts to get back into the game, Ricardo Lemos's team couldn't stop Haro Rioja's strong offense, losing the set 21-25. In the third and final set, the Tenerife team tried to fight back, even taking a 14-10 lead. But Esther López's team turned things around, taking a 19-17 lead and ultimately winning the set 25-20 to seal the match.
While the Superliga Femenina team faced a loss, it was a good day for other Canarian teams in Superliga 2. In the women's Group A, Cuesta Piedra beat Extremadura 3-0, and Arona also defeated Covadonga 3-0. In Group B, Élite El Rosario won 3-0 against Cide Palma, moving them into first place. Finally, in Group C, Fedes also secured a 3-0 victory over Mairena.
In the men's Superliga 2, Arona Spring in Motion won convincingly against Cisneros with a 3-0 score.
