Guía de Isora has launched a €200,000 project to repave the El Choro road, marking the start of a broader municipal initiative to modernize agricultural infrastructure and support local farmers in Tenerife.
Work has officially begun on the El Choro road in Guía de Isora, marking the first step in a major project to modernize agricultural infrastructure in the Tenerife municipality. The initial phase, which costs over 200,000 euros, focuses on repaving a 900-meter stretch of road.
This project addresses a common challenge for farmers in the Canary Islands: outdated access roads that make it difficult to transport goods and reach their land. Mayor Ana Dorta noted that these improvements are a top priority for the local government, directly responding to requests from residents who have struggled with the area's difficult terrain.
This is just the beginning of a broader municipal plan to upgrade rural roads across the region. By improving connectivity, the City Council aims to support the local agricultural sector, keep farms competitive, and encourage younger generations to continue working the land rather than abandoning it.
