Grupo Fuertes and Satocan Partner to Acquire and Renovate Tenerife Hotel
Grupo Fuertes and Satocan have formed a strategic partnership to acquire and renovate The Salmar hotel in Tenerife, marking Satocan’s expansion into the island's tourism market.
Grupo Fuertes and the Canarian company Satocan have formed a strategic partnership that marks a significant shift for the hotel industry in southern Tenerife. The two companies have jointly acquired The Salmar, a four-star superior hotel on the coast of San Miguel de Abona, and are planning a comprehensive renovation of the property.
This deal is more than just a real estate transaction; it serves as Satocan’s entry into the Tenerife market. Previously, the group’s hotel operations were limited to Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, making this a major step in their regional expansion. While the two companies will share ownership of the property equally, Satocan will be responsible for managing the hotel.
The choice of San Miguel de Abona reflects a growing trend in the Canary Islands: renovating existing properties rather than building new ones. In a mature tourism market, upgrading beachfront infrastructure allows companies to improve their offerings without needing new land. The project focuses on modernizing facilities and blending the hotel into the landscape, aiming to attract guests who value design and comfort, while also leveraging the area's proximity to golf courses and marinas.
For the industry, this partnership highlights the strength of tourism investment in the islands. It shows that the most successful strategy is combining the financial power of large groups with the local expertise of regional operators. The arrival of this hotel not only strengthens Satocan’s position in the region but also demonstrates the continued interest of major national companies in Tenerife’s most popular destinations.
