A new farmers market will be built in Fasnia for 4.3 million euros.
In the town of Los Roques in Tenerife, a modern farmers market with a tourist information office and a consulting center for farmers will be built for 4.3 million euros.
In the southeast, in the town of Los Roques (Fasnia), a new farmers market will soon appear! The Cabildo of Tenerife Road Administration has given the "green light" to the project, which was proposed back in 2019. It is planned to spend more than 4.3 million euros on construction, and the work will last about 18 months. In addition to the market, there will also be a tourist information office and a consultation point for farmers.
The market will be located on a plot of almost 5,800 square meters, in the Los Roques area, between Los Roques Avenue and B Street. The building itself will have an area of 1,270 square meters and six floors, four of which will be underground. It will be possible to enter the premises from a new equipped area that will face directly onto Los Roques Avenue.
The consultation point for farmers will be located on the ground floor, the tourist information office and administration on the first floor. The farmers market itself will be located in one of the basements, and the other three will be used as storage space.
The farmers market will have a main entrance on the upper level, from where you can enter the exhibition hall or the tasting room. From the tasting room there will be a separate exit to the street and a convenient dressing room. Also on this level will be an office, stairs and an elevator for 13 people to go down to the lower floors. In addition, there will be a freight elevator outside that can lift up to 1,000 kilograms.
On the underground floor, directly below the upper level, there will be 23 places for the sale of agricultural products. Water will be supplied to each place, and additional counters can be placed outside on the terrace. From here there will also be an exit to the street and to the parking lot. Interestingly, a small playground will be set up next to the entrance to the market instead of the old one.
On the other underground floors, in the second basement, there will be public toilets, a garbage collection point and a warehouse where you can install refrigerators for storing products. And the third and fourth basements will be used as ordinary storage facilities.
The outdoor parking lot will have 20 spaces for cars, two of which will have charging stations for electric cars, and one space for people with disabilities. The parking lot will be located on the level of the farmers market's trading places, next to the building. You can enter it via a ramp from the avenue side.
The mayor of Fasnia, Luis Javier González, considers this project extremely important for local farmers. He emphasizes that the market will become a center for the sale of agricultural products from all over the region. "Fasnia will become a model in this industry, having a modern market located at an important intersection of the southern highway, where there are always many people," says the mayor.
Luis Javier González also reminded that this is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the history of the city, in which the most money has been invested. "We are very happy that this project is becoming a reality. We hope that construction work will begin in the near future," he added.
The process of selecting a contractor for the construction of the farmers market is currently underway. The project is financed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Tenerife, and the land for construction was allocated by the municipality of Fasnia.
