In Arona, the large-scale construction project "El Mojón" has moved off the ground after 30 years of waiting.
In Arona, after 30 years of waiting, construction has begun in the "El Mojón" area, which will allow permits to be issued for the construction of hotels and other infrastructure.
In Arona, an important construction project has finally moved forward! Local authorities and the Compensation Board have agreed to transfer land for development in the "El Mojón" area. This means that construction permits will soon be issued.
The first to receive permits are expected to be for the construction of three large hotels: two from the Spring group and one from Macaronesian Hotels. This concerns a vast area of almost one million square meters near the entrance to Los Cristianos. This is a major step forward, as the project has been "stuck" for almost 30 years.
A few days ago, the mayor of Arona, Fátima Lemes Reverón, signed the decree on the land transfer. Many officials attended the ceremony, as both entrepreneurs and the city had been waiting for this event for a long time. The city will benefit from the construction of schools, cultural centers, hospitals, and sports grounds. In addition, there will be two large parks. However, they have not yet been transferred to the city until an agreement is reached on who will maintain them. The same applies to the roads in this area.
Representatives of the municipality and the Compensation Board told Sol del Sur that the parks and roads have been ready for a long time, but they are not being opened to avoid vandalism. This is because a company to take care of them has not yet been found.
Construction permits can already be issued, but there are nuances. It is necessary to figure out the conditions under which they will be issued, as it concerns a partial transfer of land after the elimination of certain shortcomings.
The authorities of Arona promise to provide more information on this matter in the near future. The Compensation Board has not yet officially announced this.
The "El Mojón" plan is one of the largest construction projects in the Canary Islands. It has been "stuck" for over 30 years due to bureaucracy. It was approved back in 1996, and the final decision was made by the Arona City Council in 1998.
