The K42 Canarias Anaga Marathon continued yesterday, marking three consecutive days of racing in the Anaga region. Following Friday's Vertical race, the introduction of the new Hidrogest K30 distance brought even more excitement. Finlay Grant and Cris Hernández were the top performers in the K30, which started in Tegueste, while Germán González and Marta Pueyo excelled in the challenging Old Peak K12. Today, Sunday, all eyes are on the main K42 race and the Cristalería Drago K21.
The new Hidrogest K30 distance, part of the K42 Canarias event, saw a predictable winner. British runner Finlay Grant, who had already shown his experience this season by reaching fourth in the Sky Series U23, proved his strength. He confirmed his talent in the Hidrogest K30, leading from start to finish at an impressive pace of 5 minutes 41 seconds per kilometer. Grant finished in 2:50:17, more than two minutes ahead of Julen Calvó (2:52:32). Ione Guerra (2:55:38) took third place, leaving Sigurjon and Raúl Díaz behind.
In the women's race, Cris Hernández showed incredible strength and dominated her competitors. The Matxacuca runner comfortably won, setting an impressive time of 3:55:02 in the Hidrogest K30. Ana María Humanes came in second (4:07:47), followed by the determined Mirayma Díaz (4:08:42), who is also competing for the overall Grand K title.
Germán González, who had already placed third in the KVertical race, started the Old Peak K12 from Jardina determined to maintain his excellent form. He faced strong trail runners like Philip Wong, Javier Fernández, and his friend Ramsés Rodríguez. Ultimately, the KSeries de Canarias champion competed closely with Javi Fernández from El Hierro, who made a strong comeback after an 18-month break. Philip Wong from the Netherlands finished behind them.
In the women's K12, Marta Pueyo was the fastest, finishing in an impressive 1:11:40. Ana González was close behind (1:11:52), and Ane Ormaetxea secured third place (1:14:32).
