Granadilla de Abona suffers from power outages: the authorities demand action from E-Distribución
Due to the overloading of the power grid caused by the heat, the authorities of Granadilla de Abona demand that E-Distribución urgently resolve the problem of frequent power outages and build a new substation.
Power outages have become more frequent in the town of Granadilla de Abona recently. The residents of Los Llanos, San Isidro, and Sotavento are the most affected. Therefore, the local authorities have appealed to E-Distribución (a subsidiary of Endesa, which is responsible for electricity supply) with a demand to urgently solve the problem.
E-Distribución explains that the outages are due to the heat and the fact that people have started using air conditioners actively. This overloads the grid, and the equipment operates less efficiently.
The mayor of the town, José Domingo Regalado, has already contacted the company and demands explanations and concrete actions. In response, E-Distribución reported that they are already carrying out technical work to redistribute the load on the grid and reduce the number of outages. In addition, they plan to build a new transformer substation in the Charco del Pino area to increase the grid's capacity during peak consumption periods.
In the near future, representatives of the city council will meet with E-Distribución to discuss the details of the project, the deadlines for completion, and the location of the new substation.
The local authorities emphasize that all issues with documents and permits need to be resolved as soon as possible, as the situation is urgent and power outages negatively affect people's lives and the town's economy. They also demand written guarantees from the company that the project will start and be completed in the shortest possible time.
E-Distribución notes that problems with electricity supply occur not only in Granadilla de Abona but also in other places on the island due to the heat and grid overload. The local authorities, although not directly responsible for electricity supply, promise to continue demanding urgent action from the company.
