In Granadilla de Abona, they discussed strengthening security after an incident involving an attack by a homeless person, acknowledging the lack of police officers and planning the installation of surveillance cameras.

In Granadilla de Abona, security was discussed again. The reason was a recent incident in El Médano, where a homeless person injured another with a corkscrew. This frightened local residents and business owners.

Councilor David Santos recalled that back in January, when the People's Party and Socialists were in power, Councilor Carmen Delia had warned about pickpockets and a possible "wave of danger" on the coast. Now that Delia is responsible for security, Santos asked if she shared the same concerns, given the recent incidents and complaints from business owners in Los Abrigos and San Isidro.

Delia replied that Granadilla should not be singled out as a particularly dangerous place, as similar problems exist in neighboring towns. She mentioned a stabbing that occurred in Arico on the same day. Delia assured that the city authorities are working to ensure that residents and business owners feel safe. At the same time, she acknowledged that there are not enough police officers in the city, but promised that there would be new vacancies.

Santos ironically remarked that Delia had changed her mind since coming to power.

The mayor of the city, José Domingo Regalado, emphasized that the authorities are concerned about incidents that threaten security. "We are not shirking our responsibility," he stated.

Regalado acknowledged that Granadilla lacks police officers, and they are striving to increase their number "by 20, 30, or 40 people."

The mayor also announced that the possibility of installing surveillance cameras at the entrances to the city is being considered in order to monitor traffic.
