The 16th annual New Talent Festival in Granadilla de Abona showcased emerging artists from across the Canary Islands, awarding prizes to performers in soloist, dance, and musical group categories.

The Canary Islands’ growing cultural scene was on full display this past Sunday in Granadilla de Abona, as El Médano square hosted the 16th annual New Talent Festival. According to the local City Council, the event has become a key platform for amateur artists aged 12 to 30 who do not yet have professional recording contracts or commercial experience.

The competition awarded a total of 4,900 euros in prizes. Winners received the traditional Gold, Silver, and Bronze Pomegranate trophies, accompanied by cash prizes of 600, 400, and 200 euros, respectively, along with a 100-euro bonus for original compositions. These municipal initiatives are vital for the region, providing a stage for young performers who often struggle to break into the professional industry.

In the soloist category, Roberta Cardinale took first place, followed by Kiara Comellas and Amanda Brito. The dance category featured participants from across the region, with the group Dyve winning the top spot ahead of Duality and Blu Dance Academy. In the "Show Your Talent" section, the Soul Mate Duo placed first, with Naiara Díaz and César Ángel rounding out the top three. Finally, in the musical groups category, Samira and Wilder took home the top prize, followed by Astra Music and Lemon Seeds.

The festival is more than just a competition; it encourages artistic exchange between residents from different islands. With participants traveling from municipalities including La Laguna, Santa Cruz, Arona, Guía de Isora, San Miguel, Arico, and Ingenio, the event remains a highlight of the summer in southern Tenerife and a go-to destination for discovering new talent.
