Firefighters are working to extinguish a cabin fire at the Madre del Agua camp in Granadilla de Abona, Tenerife, with no injuries reported and no risk of forest spread to the nearby forest.
Firefighters are working today, Friday, to put out a fire that started in a cabin at the Madre del Agua camp in Granadilla de Abona, Tenerife. So far, no one has been hurt, and officials say there's no risk of the fire spreading to the nearby forest. This information comes from the Canary Islands Government's Security and Emergency Coordinating Center.
The incident began around 6:38 AM this morning when the emergency services (Cecoes 112) received a call about the fire. Crews are still working to put out the blaze, which is affecting one camp cabin and some nearby trees. Again, no one has been injured.
Sources told Europa Press that while the smoke plume is "quite visible," there's "no risk of spread to the forest" near the affected area. Meanwhile, people staying at the camp are waiting in a safe area to be evacuated.
Environmental agents, rural guards, and officers from the Local Police and Civil Guard are all on site, working to control the fire in southern Tenerife.
