A five-year-old girl was seriously hurt in a head-on car crash in Los Realejos this Tuesday, highlighting how vulnerable children are in road accidents. Emergency services rushed to the scene on the TF-5 road after the 112 emergency line reported the incident.
The young girl, who suffered a serious head injury, was taken by a specialized ambulance from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC) to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands for expert medical attention. The accident happened around 9:00 AM on February 17, on the El Socorro straight stretch of the TF-5, located in Los Realejos near the turn-off for the popular beach.
Two adults were also moderately injured in the crash. A 38-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman had bruises and other injuries, and they were also taken to the same hospital for checks.
The crash was so severe that firefighters from the Tenerife Consortium had to free one person trapped inside a vehicle. Civil Guard and Canarian Police officers were also at the scene. They secured the area, managed the removal of the damaged cars, and helped get traffic flowing normally again on this key island road.
