A 13-year-old girl died Thursday afternoon after falling from a great height at an abandoned construction site in Añaza, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, prompting a National Police homicide investigation.
A 13-year-old girl died on Thursday afternoon after falling from a great height at an abandoned construction site in Añaza, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The tragic incident happened at 7:50 PM. The National Police's Homicide Group is now investigating how it occurred.
The girl, who lived in the Añaza neighborhood, was with three other teenagers when she fell. These teenagers were the ones who called emergency services for help.
Police suspect the girl fell from at least five stories high. The fall happened inside the abandoned building, which stands on the coast between the Acorán and Añaza areas.
Emergency crews quickly arrived at the scene, including officers from the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Local Police and National Police, ambulances from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC), and firefighters from the Tomé Cano station.
Local Police officers were the first to arrive and tried to revive her with CPR, but sadly, it was unsuccessful.
For decades, this abandoned construction site has been the scene of many deaths, both accidental and suicides.
