The eleventh edition of GastroCanarias has opened in Tenerife, serving as a key hub for professional development, industry collaboration, and the modernization of the archipelago’s hospitality sector.

The restaurant industry in the Canary Islands is evolving, with a new focus on professional standards and collaboration. This shift was clear at the opening of GastroCanarias 2026, which has become the primary hub for the archipelago’s hospitality and food sectors. Held at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Trade Fair Center, the event brings together industry experts, training programs, and commercial exhibitors.

Now in its eleventh year, the fair is larger than ever, expecting over 20,000 visitors. With more than 200 exhibitors representing nearly 80 public and private organizations, the event highlights how important it has become for modernizing local business models.

The event’s schedule reflects the changing nature of the industry, featuring live cooking demonstrations, workshops, and high-level competitions. A major highlight of the opening day was the 20th Canary Islands Cooking Championship, which challenged chefs to create dishes featuring yam as the star ingredient.

For local restaurateurs, the fair is more than just a place to see new products; it is a vital resource for staying current. By connecting kitchen innovation with the latest management and service technology, GastroCanarias helps local businesses improve their operations, making it an essential event for the islands' service industry.
