The construction of the El Pilón II wind power plant, worth 22.3 million euros, will be discussed in Guimarães.
The Guímar City Council plans to meet with the company Disa to discuss the construction of the El Pilón II wind farm, worth 22.3 million euros, despite objections and negative expert opinions regarding its environmental impact.
In Güímar, a meeting with the company Disa is planned after the holidays, which wants to build the El Pilón II wind power plant. Local authorities want to understand the details of the project and explain everything to residents in simple terms.
It is said that information about the construction should be clear and open, with all the nuances. Special attention will be paid to how this will affect nature and landscapes.
After the meeting with the company, people will be able to submit their objections, but with an understanding of the matter.
This project, which will also affect Fasnia, will cost 22.3 million euros.
At an emergency meeting of the city council, there was no official vote against the construction, but about 80 objections collected in the technical report were approved. In this report, the construction is assessed negatively. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Canary Islands and the University of La Laguna also gave negative conclusions.
At the meeting, the coalition (Canarian Coalition, Socialist Party and Unidos Se Puede) failed to reach an agreement with the People's Party and Nueva Canarias. The People's Party explained that they received the objections only on the day of the meeting and did not have time to study them.
Local authorities want to avoid the situation in Güímar that has occurred in other cities, such as Arico, where problems have arisen due to similar projects.
