Güímar to Host Inaugural Burger Fest Canarias This September
Güímar will host the inaugural Burger Fest Canarias from September 25 to 27 at Plaza de Las Indias, featuring a professional culinary competition, live music, and inclusive dining options.
Güímar is set to host the first-ever Burger Fest Canarias, a new food festival supported by the local City Council and Department of Commerce. The event will be held at the Plaza de Las Indias (also known as Plaza del Radioaficionado) from September 25 to 27, and entry is free for everyone.
The festival features a professional competition involving over a dozen restaurants from across the islands. A total of 1,100 euros in prize money is up for grabs: 500, 300, and 150 euros will be awarded to the top three finishers by a panel of judges, while a 150-euro prize will be decided by a public vote. This voting system is designed to encourage interaction between local businesses and the community while highlighting the quality of local ingredients.
The menu is designed to be inclusive, offering vegan and gluten-free options, as well as a variety of desserts and craft beers. This focus on dietary variety reflects a growing trend in food festivals, ensuring that there is something for everyone to enjoy.
To keep the atmosphere lively, the festival will feature a full schedule of live music throughout the weekend:
- Friday, Sept 25: Music runs from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., featuring Adrian Anceu and Deepak Daswani.
- Saturday, Sept 26: Entertainment lasts from 2:00 p.m. to midnight, with performances by DJ Santee, Nua Díaz, Tana Sandoval, and Quique Serra.
- Sunday, Sept 27: The festival closes out from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with sets from MCR Selector and Juana La Cubana.
By combining entertainment with local dining, the municipality aims to revitalize public spaces and support the local service industry, using popular themed events like Burger Fest to bring the community together.
